Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui!
created during the residency Nature Humaine at Le Blanc, France in 2011

Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui (2011-2012) is a a set of photographs by ANNE CLAIRE BROC’H and GILLES POURTIER (both individual photographer in their own right) developed during a residency in Le Blanc, a small city in France.

This series follows a global track of youth culture and confront the viewer with adolescents and young adults in their given environments, mainly in the public space. In contrast to classical documentations, BROC’H and POURTIER make use here of various pictorial genres, presenting individual portraits and group photos, as well as views of the architecture and landscape developing in this way a form of cinematic narration.

Without making any ostensible reference to the persons’ biographies or to a specific context, ANNE CLAIRE BROC’H and GILLES POURTIER succeeds in creating a feeling of intimate proximity and observing distance.

Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui (2011-2012) has been compiled in a publication (available here) and will be part of a group exhibition at Le Bal, Paris in December 2012.
