Field Essays is inhabiting the front spaces of Onomatopee from October 22 till 30 October and is exploring the motives and the strategies of emergent design practices, and informs about their qualities. Field Essays makes its research accessible to the public through publications, exhibitions, lectures and workshops.

In mid-2006 writer / curator FREEK LOMME and graphic designer REMCO VAN BLADEL launched Onomatopee, a project space. Over 70 projects further on, Onomatopee wants to stimulate visual emancipation; involve people in the communication of the visual culture in which they live and mediates between the visual and academic spheres that fear a lack of cultural empowerment and the general public that fears the power of an artistic elite.
