Jumping is a short film by Japanese director OSAMU TEZUKA (best known as the creator of Astro Boy). This 6-minute animation film shows the world from the point of view of a bouncing ball (or jumping child). Each jump of the camera goes higher, each landing is a visual surprise. The film is particularly notable for its amazingly moving perspectives which were all drawn by hand.

Jumping won the Grand Prize at the 1984 Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films and The Silver Ear Award at the 1985 Valladolid International Film Festival.

Eleven years after the death of OSAMU TEZUKA, The National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo held a public exhibit of his works in 1990. In 1994, he became a hallmark in manga and anime history: The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum was opened in his hometown of Takarazuka, in memory of the artist.

Definitely a gold gem to discover or rediscover!
