Now I was supposed to go to the city that should determine my future career and life. My friends all agreed that New York was “the” city for me. I wasn’t so much leaving as being dispatched, equipped with euphoric prophecies about how my life would evolve from this important juncture. – by DAVID LIESKE in October 2010 (read more here)

LIESKE‘ work brings into play questions of representation, reproduction and the problematical structure of “inspiration” through a series of photo-collages which depicts his stay in New York as a brutal hangover.

Berlin-based artist DAVID LIESKE aka CARSTEN JOST has been touring and exhibiting in both the fields of visual arts and music and he also co-runs the celebrated Dial Records.

And good news: this work is actually on view at Tobias Nähring Galerie in Leipzig until 4th June, 2011
