JULIA CHIANG. Installation View. OHWOW. Miami, FL. 2009

JULIA CHIANG
uses a variety of different materials, from vintage handkerchiefs to china and candy, as well as found objects. For Miami contemporary art gallery OHWOW during ArtBasel 2009, she created an installation piece made of Ring Pops candy. She used Ring Pops for the first time in 2005 and since then has continued to do wall pieces where the candy is left to melt over time. As the candy deteriorates it leaves its mark on what ever surface it touches.

I am interested more in what are viewed as flaws rather than perfection, and in finding objects and materials that hold a story and history.”

JULIA CHIANG
is been living and working in Brooklyn for over 10 years focusing mainly on sculpture, installation, and works on paper.
