With a very limited press release, the current exhibition at the Parisian galerie Joseph Tang seems to detach itself from the forms of information in order perhaps to encounter another way to resist consumerism, dissemination and eventually to permit exploration if not freedom.
Entitled – zçrwaq ¡’ ¡ ¡’0, the exhibition features the work of PEPO SALAZAR, a Spanish artist who is best known for immersive environments with installations, assemblages, soundscapes, words, collages and performances among others. One of SALAZAR‘s approach is to make, according to curator MARTÍ MANEN, ‘condensed pieces, with layers and layers of material and information. With no need to seek a narrative but working in an almost linguistic manner. (…) It’s about consumption, a typology of content, of mixing references and moments without no holds barred; its about generating a situation not to be understood so much as to be noted (…).
The result of SALAZAR‘s process is a series of interferences which engages punk and rebellious attitudes as well as references to the art history, to utopian avant-garde movements and contemporary philosophy.
– zçrwaq ¡’ ¡ ¡’0 by PEPO SALAZAR is on view at Galerie Joseph Tang in Paris until December 5, 2015. Please note also that SALAZAR is currently representing Spain at the 2015 Venice Biennale which is on view until November 22nd, 2015.
