Today’s Pic presents a work by British artist STUART MIDDLETON which is part of a group exhibition currently on view at Vilma Gold in London.

The Londoner gallery provides minimal informations about the show organised by MATT WILLIAMS. But it seems that the central inspiration comes from the movie Being There (1979), in which the protagonist encounters the real world after the death of his employer.  Having lived until then in complete isolation in his employer’s mansion, he is suddenly thrown into an environment that he only knows from what he saw on television.

Most of the works in this exhibition manipulate familiar items and structures that not only renew their meaning or functionality but also debunk them.

Being There with NEÏL BELOUFA, HANNAH BLACK, ELIZA DOUGLAS, KLARA LIDÉN, COLIN LOWE & RODDY THOMSON, STUART MIDDLETON AND AVERY SINGER is on view at Vilma Gold, London until September 24, 2016.
