Winter Interference, 1983

ELLIE EPP is a Canadian artist who is currently part of the exhibition Holding one’s own in an unfinished system, which puts in dialogue EPP‘s work with British artist JULIETTE BLIGHTMAN, at Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe.

Both working with texts and images that they accumulate across journals, drawings, films, paintings and photographs, the exhibition reflects how they both create deadpan atmospheres by means of reduced images, movements and words, and eventually how they engage with perception, representation and personal narrative.

Winter Interference (1983) is presented on A4 sheets of paper minimally pined to the wall. EPP assembled the text in December 1983 like a personal reportage which is composed of hew own words but also texts fragments from her family and friends.

Holding one’s own in an unfinished system with JULIETTE BLIGHTMAN and ELLIE EPP is on view at Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe until September 6, 2015.
