one pic friday. Marguerite Stern

The muted pink colors of the textiles and the flesh, the gap between the pullover and the shoulder, the hair, the arms along the body as well as the gaze among others, make MARGUERITE STERN‘s self-portrait, which seems to be suspended in a performance of fatigue, one of these haunting images that lodge themselves inside our heads.

As part of the scene of young women who use online platforms as medium to simultaneously showcase herself and her creative output, the work of french photographer and activist MARGUERITE STERN – and more specifically her autoportrait series – seems to be a subtle commentary on what it means to represent the body in a society of gender and racial hierarchies.
