- He has long been one of the most influential designers in East Asia
- He graduated from Seoul’s Hongik University, where he is now a professor
- He is also editor/art director of the underground art-culture magazine Report (1988-present)
- He holds a number of awards and prizes, including a commendation by the Korean Language Academy for his valuable contribution to the advancement of Hangul, the Korean alphabet
- As early as 1983, he was selected as designer of the year by Design magazine
- From 1997-2001, AHN was vice-president of Icograda
- In 2002 in Seoul, he participated in organizing one of the most important graphic design events in the world, the Icograda Millennium Congress, the United Nations of graphic design
- Then he created TypoJanchi, the first Seoul Typography Biennale, whose catalogue immediately became a reference work in the field
