Writing Without Words project

“Writing Without Words” is a crazy project by American visual artist STEFANIE POSAVEC. It explores methods of visually representing texts and visualises the differences in writing styles of various authors. The resulting works are not only gorgeous from the point of view of graphic design, but also exhibit scientific rigor and precision in their formulation: meticulous scouring the surface of the text, highlighting and noting sentence length, prosody and themes. Nothing less than spectacular!

In fact, STEFANIE POSAVEC was born and raised in Colorado but moved to London in 2004 where she got a MA in Communication Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Her day job deals with text but in a different way: she focuses on projects ranging from data-driven design to designing book covers (or anything in between) !

And if you like this project, posters are available via her website: http://www.itsbeenreal.co.uk/

  1. these are very beautiful… i like the idea that they are based on facts, but what they turn out to be is pure art.
