Collier Schorr

America Flag with scratch. 1999-2000. C-print. 20 x 16 inches. Edition of 5 . Courtesy 303 Gallery, New York

I’m looking for introspection- for the moment before the guy goes out there, warming up- the moment when he comes off, either exhilarated because he won or devastated because he lost. I’m looking for anyone who’s bleeding, who’s been beaten up a bit.”- COLLIER SCHORR

COLLIER SCHORR is best known for her portraits of adolescent men and women. His pictures often blend photographic realism with elements of fiction and youthful fantasy but as attractive as this visual feast is, it asks serious questions about how identity is performed and framed and examine how influence nationality, gender, and sexuality on a identity.

And good news: you can see COLLIER SCHORR‘s exhibition, German Faces, at Modern Art gallery in London from 19 February to 20 March 2010.
