Alexander McQueen. Spring/Summer 1999

London born and educated, dubbed “enfant terrible” by the fashion press, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN was one of the youngest designers to achieve the title ‘”British Designer of the Year'” which he won four times between 1996 and 2003. He was also awarded the CBE, as well as being named International Designer of the Year at the Council of Fashion Designer Awards.

And although he first gained notoriety for its controversy and shock tactics, he showed his softer, more romantic side with his collection for his signature line for spring/summer 1999 where at the end of the show, model SHALOM HARLOW walks out in a simple white McQueen dress, where she meets two robots which paints a ‘print’ on her as the finale.

It was the collection that finally killed any doubt about this young man who proved that he was able to produce a show that was so cohesive as a whole and present it in a dramatized story that captured the theme and emotion of the collection.

R.I.P ALEXANDER!
