Although this exhibition is now closed since a few days, I really wanted to present at least one image from this group show entitled Dirty Linen that took place at the artist-run space Red in Moscow last month.
As its title implies, Dirty Linen featured works including sculptures, paintings and scents that were all made of dirty bed sheets taken from a nearby hostel. One of the strong pieces in the show has been made by LETA DOBROVOLSKAYA and consisted of a couple of large swans recalling those made from towels in romantic hotels. The title of the work has been taken from ULRICH SEIDL‘s movie Paradise: Love which is about a middle-aged woman traveling to Africa as a a sex tourist. Thanks to the monstruous size of the swans, the dirty textile and the title inspiration, the romantic spirit is long gone.
➝ Dirty Linen with IRINA PETRAKOVA, VITALY BARABANOV, ILMIRA BOLOTYAN, IVAN NOVIKOV and LETA DOBROVOLSKAYA was on view at Red in Moscow from September 26 till October 10, 2015.
