Do you remember LUKA ROCCO MAGNOTTA, the former pornographic film actor and escort who not only killed and dismembered his lover, but who also recorded the whole process in an online video entitled 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick?  This creepy story is actually the central theme of the exhibition by CLÉMENCE DE LA TOUR DU PIN and ANTOINE RENARD which takes the same title as the video uploaded by MAGNOTTA in 2012 after his murder.

The installation created specially for the art space L’Atelier-ksr in Berlin, permeates violence, malaise, disgust as well as a disturbing attraction. The show features a series of large raw metallic partitions creating spaces into the exhibiton venue recalling booths at fairs or backrooms. Each ‘unit’ presents a scene where objects and sculptures suggest in a kind of shamanistic rebuttal way, decaying bodies and visceral organic landscapes, where materials gain some fleshy quality or are handled with brutal and incisive attention.

With 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick, CLÉMENCE DE LA TOUR DU PIN and ANTOINE RENARD have created a grotesque and furious theater where the figure completely disappears leaving only traces and inanimate bodily matter as fertilizer for the imagination.
