Auto Ficto Reflexo, 2015

Last week I miserably missed the premiere of the performance Auto Ficto Reflexo by ADAM LINDER that has been shown in Berlin on the occasion of the event Tanz im August. According to the press release, Auto Ficto Reflexo is a piece in which LINDER ‘has appropriated the codified language of cultural production and mediation for his own choreographic purposes. Interviews with artists, cultural-policy rhetoric or critique become rhythmic-conceptual generators of movement in this duet that is staged through levels like a game’.

Below you can find a short excerpt of a conversation he had with choreographer and performer DRAGANA BULUT last year which sums up the outlines of his work.

I’m trying to play with how content can be read by constantly changing what is being performed. (…) I try to collage different registers and different referential materials.  Collaging allows me the frictions between different bodies – for example the  body of an uppity public speaker next to a masculine body with a macho gait – and it moves the overall reception of the work away from typical theater dramaturgies of narrativity, thematic linearity, or minimal durationality. My love for montage in dance – making transitions that are hard-cut or spliced together or performing two materials at once – also comes from a desire to relate the technicality of dance with other visual mediums, particularly with certain contemporary practices in video art. – ADAM LINDER in conversation with DRAGANA BULUT, Jahresring 61, 2014

The good news is that ADAM LINDER is going to present his work Choreographic Services (2013-ongoing) at ICA in London from September 8 to September 13, 2015.
