MARLEN KELLER works as a visual artist within an interdisciplinary field combining her knowledge from fashion design, illustration and photography. She lives between London and Basel (Switzerland) where she studied at University Of Applied Sciences And Arts (Institut Fashion-Design) and where she graduated in 2012.

In her collections, MARLEN is utilizing all kind of opposites to create intensity and at the same time a balance between them. She creates worlds for the audience that can only be left again when the persons wearing her clothes have passed by. Portrait shots of personalities whose outward appearance reveals as much about their inside as the beholder projects on them were the initial position for her design. The surface of the fabric, however, is MARLEN KELLER‘s guiding idea regarding materials. She dies, etches and processes her fabrics until they have the desired look. – Not Just A Label

Her imagery, like a multitude of twisted universes, is typical of KELLER‘s vision, merging disciplines and using all kind of elements and techniques, accidents and contradictions with an extraordinary approach to three-dimensionality.

It’s all about the beauty of fragility, surface, pieces, illusions, visions and opposites to make my work more intense. Proportions and structures are very central in my work as a fashion designer, but also as an illustrator. My pieces and pictures develop between organized structures and intuition.MARLEN KELLER in conversation with FILEP MOTWARY
