LISA WILLIAMSON is a Los Angeles-based artist who focuses on how each uses of material and formal relationships suggest new possibilities for abstraction. She is deeply engaged in material experimentation and addresses the legacy of minimalism, drawing attention to the basic physicality of objects and thus questioning the representation beyond established art historical codes.
LISA WILLIAMSON received an MFA from the University of Southern California in 2008. She has had solo exhibitions at Unosunove Arte Contemporanea, Rome (2010) and Small A Projects, New York (2009). She also had a two-person exhibition with SARAH CONAWAY, at The Box, Los Angeles, in May 2011 Her work was recently featured in the 2010 California Biennial at The Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach and has been presented in group exhibitions at CCA Andratx Kunsthalle, Mallorca; Layr Wuestenhagen, Vienna; Hilary Crisp Gallery, London; David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles; ACME, Los Angeles; Renwick Gallery, New York; Romer Young Gallery, San Francisco, among others.
And good news: you have until 31 December to view her exhibition Thinking Objects at Shane Campbell Gallery in Chicago
