TOBIAS MADISON creates conceptual digital drawings that you either love from the very first second or simply ignore as visual interruption with impressive easiness. In fact these drawings have been developped for his first solo presentation in a Swiss museum earlier this year, entitled “Drawings” – part of the second instalment of the exhibition project “complete concrete”.

This new body of works is based on the chains of functional commands programmed for the graphics program “Photoshop”, resulting in a type of computer-generated production line for the creation of digital image artefacts. Within this line, MADISON is able to generate a large number of artefacts solely by means of finger-movements on the trackpad of his “MacBook Pro”.

Since 2008, TOBIAS MADISON repeatedly queries and manipulates material and presentation forms, context and function, slogan and content exploring and making new forms of communications between the digital and the physical.

Personally I love how uneasy the images are. How as surfaces becomes slick, textured and layered with multiple sources its hard to know what the original medium is.
