ELINOR CARUCCI is a pure discovery today. Despite the fact that series is not “new”, I’m totally blown away by the intimate glimpse she offers us into her life, her parents, husband and childrens. Often she hones in on the telling detail: a glazed eye, the indent of a zipper on skin, the beads of bone that run down her own naked back. All are the results of reality, living and seeing, capturing accidents with artful intention.

The camera is, in a sense, both a way to get close, and to break free. It is a testimony to independence as well as a new way to relate to the world.
Born 1971 in Jerusalem, Israel, ELINOR CARUCCI graduated in 1995 from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design with a degree in photography, and moved to New York that same year. She is a member of the Faculty in Photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has also taught at Princeton University and has been a visiting lecturer at Harvard University.
